Simulated surgery real experience
Sim-Ortho is a surgical training platform that enables the use of simulation to teach, train and test residents for open surgery procedures. As the world’s first of its kind, it offers unique possibilities to expand medical education of orthopedic surgery in a novel way. The final product offer a unique tactile interface and a VR-based training simulator using haptic.
My mandate consisted on elaborating the art direction and developing the user experience as well as the interface design of this brand new product. The challenge was mainly to create three interfaces that are displayed on separate devices and still providing a unique experience. The haptic tools were activating the interfaces on the simulator table; I also had to consider the interface visible within the VR and the tactile screen that was the starting point (pre-experience menu).
The product won an Edison Award in the Medical Innovation category.
